About Me
My name is Claire Sejkora, and I am a first-year Health Sciences student at the University of Cincinnati pursuing the Pre-Occupational Therapy track as a member of the University Honors Program. I am originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and as a first-generation college student raised by an immigrant parent, I have developed a strong appreciation for perseverance, education, and the opportunities that come from stepping beyond familiar circumstances.
My interest in occupational therapy developed through my younger cousin, who has autism. After meeting and speaking with his occupational therapist, I was drawn to the profession’s combination of empathy, problem-solving, advocacy, and individualized care. I recognized many of my own values and strengths in the way she approached her work, which helped me envision a future in a field centered on helping individuals achieve greater independence and quality of life.
Throughout my time at UC and within UHP, I hope to further explore disability advocacy, neuroscience, and health-related research. I am particularly interested in gaining meaningful clinical observation experience, strengthening my leadership abilities, and developing relationships with professionals and peers who share similar goals. My previous experiences as a National Honor Society member, founder and president of a Future Health Professionals club, and volunteer at University Hospitals have reinforced my commitment to healthcare and service.
Outside of academics, I enjoy film, music, and traveling. Ultimately, I hope to become an occupational therapist and establish my own private practice centered on compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based care.
